Research Intern

IAS Group, a boutique consultancy based in Washington, DC, is seeking two part-time Research Interns (15-20 hours per week) for Winter/Spring 2012.  Founded in 1988, IAS provides strategic advice, practical assistance, and creative solutions to clients' trade and investment needs. IAS concentrates on the economic and political impact of the new technologies and emerging markets that are transforming our world.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop research and international business skills while supporting the company’s global projects. The Research Intern will research and gather information relating to alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) for the company’s quarterly publication and data service on AFVs. The intern will help IAS team collect and analyze economic and trade data, draft papers for posting on IAS and other websites, and prepare reports and  briefing materials for the publication and planned overseas seminars. The intern should be able to conduct research in both English and Mandarin Chinese.

The intern will work with the IAS team at the company’s Washington office. This is an unpaid intern position. Commuting expenses will be reimbursed.


Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate student in international affairs, public policy, business, economics or other relevant fields; graduate student preferred
  • Knowledge and interest in international trade and public policy
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Excellent computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Mandarin Chinese proficiency is required
